Overview

Tools have made saving too easy, so we sometimes mistake collecting for understanding. What truly stays is often not the most highlighted passage, but a sentence that returns to mind days later.

Read a little more slowly

When a passage moves me, I pause to consider how it relates to my own experience instead of immediately searching for the next sentence to save.

Come back after a few days

If a sentence returns again, it is probably worth keeping. There will be fewer such choices, but they will be closer to your own language.
